Welcome to the Francis Wyman Music Department Blog! Our students each have music for 45 min twice a week. That time is spent learning musical concepts, singing alone and with others, playing instruments and preparing for concerts. A lot of what is being taught in music naturally helps students with confidence, team building, kindness and self awareness.
Your child will be graded in three basic categories per grade that change and develop as you child develops. Every child is graded on participation, other areas include concepts such as singing alone and with others, reading and understand beat and rhythm as well as the understanding of music terminology. Please refer to our curriculum page for more grade specific information.
We are very lucky that our school district offers many elective music programs as well. In the older grades, your child with have the opportunity to participate and a strings and band program.
